When we start to learn how to do makeup, we feel like we need to learn our whole full face. Its like we have to know everything about everything all at once. But actually all you have to do is find one thing you want to enhance and work on to master first. Its all about your TECHNIQUE!! So here are some things that you can start off with first to make an easy transition to having 2-3 things you do for your morning routine. 1. Brows - We all have heard of the saying, "Brows are not twins but sisters". In todays age brows is the number one thing we judge women off of. If you are wearing makeup of any kind and the brows are wrong from color and down to shape, I'm sorry honey-chile its a wrap!! Every cosmetic line that's in stores have several different products you can use to accommodate your life style when doing you makeup. They have pencils, powder (that looks like a eye shadow palette), a cream base and a mouse (comes in a mascara tube). Now people ask, "Crystal which is better?", they all can be used for you, its just which is best for you to use in your routine. The best thing to do first is to make sure they are trimmed according, usually I would suggest going to licensed brow technician Someone who knows how to shape and sculpt eyebrows based on your natural features. Ill admit brows are hard to adjust to, especially for us women that were in the age of "thin" brows. Whew, I know the feeling. But all in all knowing what to choose from can make difference. Full face, natural application 2. Foundation - What is foundation? Its a concentrated pigment that helps bring our skin complexion to one color. The easiest way to think of it. Foundation is the biggest and scariest form of makeup to try for me working in retail, with CristalClear Artistry clients, and personally. Ill tell you the number one thing I think that gets every shade of women confused...the formula and complexion!!! From oily skin to dry skin, we don't want a whole lot of mess on our faces. Back in the day, we use to see our family members or teachers with makeup smeared everywhere. It seemed like you could scratch it right off their face LOL. I want to let you know if you don't already, foundation has come a long way. Its so many different formulas out now to suit your needs. They have powder, liquid, and creams for ALL skin types. As for complexion, you have to do research on you OWN! First find out if the complexion of that cosmetic line is for women of color (more golden and red undertones) or for fairer skin complexions (more pinks and neutral tones). I like to think of an analogy to explain the coverage of foundation. Think about tights and pantyhose, you have sheer, medium, and full coverage.
Different types of foundation. 3. Mascara and Eyeliner - These two are sisters. This duo has helped me when I haven't had enough time to do a complete slay or just to make me look like I have my life together. Lets start with mascara. Mascara is EVERYWHERE!! Even if you wear glasses and contacts, or have very sensitive eyes, its everywhere. I like if now that they have mascaras with a tint to them, like royal blue for example. Blue is a color that will bring out the white in your eyes, and make you look more awake. If your eyes tear up and water through out the day, they have waterproof mascaras. Just like in eyeliners, there so many colors that are forgiving to every skin complexion. If you have trouble lining the top lash line of your eye, you can always just do the bottom and blend with you finger. The main colors that will bring out your eye shape are: black, brown, blue, green, and purple. A quick tip is to find a liner that is a "Gel Khol" liner. These types of liners don't smear or run as much and it adheres to the eye for all day wear. What he said...(Smile) 4. Lips- Hmmm where do I start with lips? Usually as women, we have all had lip gloss. The first time we were ever able to wear it without and adult saying anything about it, you couldn't tell us anything! I didn't start wearing lipstick until my later years in my 20's. This is another fantastic first beauty stable to have in your purse. This market today there so many different formulas: liquid, cream, gloss, and powder. There is no rule to lips but ONE...Have Fun!! Nowadays, the new trends are to layer different formulas together. For instance, a liquid lip stick with a metallic finish lip gloss. It just adds definition and your lips wont be one color. Also there are lip pencils, you don't have to use these, unless you have thinner lips or the lipstick you choose to wear doesn't stay on as long as you wish. As stated before, there is no rule to this at all. Find the right shade in the color you want, and make sure it complements your skin tone, and DARE TO BE DIFFERENT! -XOXO Cristal Leave a comment...tell me you favorite makeup product.
